Tank Measurement

Tank Measurement

Tank Measurement refers to the process of conducting volume measurement, temperature correction, and density analysis on crude oil, refined oil products, and petrochemical products (such as aromatics and methanol) stored in onshore tanks (Fixed Roof Tank, Floating Roof Tank). The final step is to calculate the net weight in air under standard conditions, which is used for trade handover, inventory management, and customs declaration.

operating procedure

1. Preparation before measurement: Confirm the type of storage tank (floating roof/fixed roof) and recent material in/out records. Check the calibration validity period of measuring instruments (measuring tape, thermometer).

2. On-site measurement: Simultaneous detection of liquid level, temperature, and density, recording environmental conditions (such as wind influence on the floating roof).

3. Data correction: Perform temperature-volume correction (VCF) and density-temperature correction according to API/ASTM standards.

4. Report issuance: including original data, correction process, and net weight.
